If it's Black and White, it was executed in pencil.
"KOY" - 1980
"BALLERINA" - 1981
Gee whiz, I just thought it looked like a Ballerina executing a beautiful twisted move....
"CHILD OF NATURE" - 1982
"GIFT II" - 1987
"GIFT" - 1983
The title refers to the gift of sight...I chose beautiful, beguling female eyes to represent all that can be in the eyes...
"JAN'S WORLD" - 1977
A birthday gift to the girl in picture on her 21st birthday (as far as I remember!!!)...Janet Schaeffer.
Tree and Grass Dept. 1991
With photo permission of Bob Lasky, photographer. Is this a neat piece or what? The photo of the darling little girl, enjoying the moment is totally unaware that she is not only being watched by the gnome in the tree behind her, but that directly below ground the gnomes of the "Tree and Grass Dept." are doing their never-ending work, weaving grass on their ancient stone wheels and then planting it from underneath! Bob took the photo and I cut it out with an x-acto knife and rubber-cemented it onto the drawing paper and then executed the drawing in pencil around it. The original was apparently destroyed in Hurricane Andrew...this is a reconstruction through the magic of my best friend, Adobe Photoshop.
"JOHN LENNON" - 1987
My love for the Beatles is never-ending, but Paul McCartney is my hero. I thought John Lenneon to be a brilliant lyricyst and songwriter, but Paul was all those things and a great player of instrumewnts as well which appealed to my guitar side. But here is a triptych of Lennon done for my good friend Ric Volpe, another musician and songwriter who identified more with Lennon. Maybe John's killer find forgiveness from a smarter and more compassionate God than I would be.
